Alan Chan started out writing short stories as a teenager, got dazzled by the visual arts and ended up spending nearly three decades making effects de là visuels on Oscar-winning movies like Titanic, Lord of The Rings and Alice in Wonderland.
Occasionally he moonlights as some sort of writer-director hyphenate, shooting short films and indie features – as evidenced by all the shiny awards on display in his home office, next to the LEGO Millennium Falcon and Eagle Transporter model. He is currently on the run from the visual effects industry, claiming refugee status in game cinematics work at Blizzard Entertainment.
In his grand tradition of trying everything at least once, Alan’s upcoming science fiction novel Abundance will be available on Amazon and other reputable book traders on October 17. Alan enjoys the act of stepping into other people’s heads and is planning to follow up with at least a couple hundred thousand more words.
Alan will be hosting a pre-publish book preview at his booth in Artist Alley. Drop by to check out the book cover art by the legendary artist Stephan Martinière, peruse pre-press copies of Abundance and discuss all things space & sci-fi with the author!
