Orion Fern is the two-time award-winning multidisciplinary illustrator of ‘The Fox Who
Became A Girl’, a queer fairy tale comic written by Chloe Bear centering trans joy. Their
comic is supported by The Greater Denton Arts Council (2023) and the Comics
Advocacy Group (2025.) On top of illustration, Orion is equally passionate about motion
graphic design and zines. As a form of ‘artivism’ (a term coined by his art hero: Keith
Haring), he runs Ovaettr Art & Zine Distro having made over 15+ zines, many
educational and helping push for a better tomorrow. Eager to share the joy of finding
your own creative voice through DIY, Orion runs workshops at The Denton Maker
Center, local libraries and businesses around town covering various creative topics from
zine-making to life drawing. Above all, he believes in the act of self-publishing as a
pathway to liberating the self.
